What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Mommy & Me Program

Our program mission is to assist adult women and adolescents who are pregnant and postpartum in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency, health, and well-being of mother, child and families by providing education, parent support, referral, and outreach services in both Ector and Midland counties. Recent additional state funding for these services will include outreach efforts at methadone clinics in Odessa and Midland to engage with pregnant and postpartum women in offering HIV testing, educational materials, and referrals to our services or other community referrals.

Population(s) Served

Our program mission is to provide services to parenting males and expecting fathers involved with the Department of Family Protective Services at-risk for, or with substance use problems in Ector, Midland, and surrounding counties. This program provides evidence-based parent education, parent support, motivational interviewing, and referrals. Only Child Protective Service clients are referred to this program.

Population(s) Served

With children spending a third of their day at school, the PBRCADA staff has a unique opportunity to deliver effective alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention programs at their schools. Staff reinforces the norms against substance use as well as providing students with peer refusal and other life skills. The program teaches an evidenced-based 12-week curriculum to encourage youth to develop constructive family relations, positive self-image, and reduce the early onset of use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Ages 10-15 are targeted for this program.

Population(s) Served

This program targets “at-risk” youth 14-19 years of age who are experiencing early signs of substance use and other related problem behaviors associated with substance use. This school-based prevention program is focused on students that have been identified as “at-risk” by their respective schools. The Project Towards No Drug Abuse Curriculum is evidenced- based with the projected outcomes that students will demonstrate behavioral and cognitive coping skills and will make a personal commitment regarding drug use.

Population(s) Served

The Midessa Coalition works at creating change through collaboration with community stakeholders to educate and motivate individuals, youth, families, organizations and institutions with the goal of reducing the incidence and impact of alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana and prescription abuse in Ector and Midland Counties.

Population(s) Served

The PRC is dedicated to capturing the needs of the Region 9 communities by identifying the gaps in resources, current drug trends, drug prevention resources and prevention training needs. Through data collection efforts and partnerships with key stakeholders, schools, and organizations, the PRC serves as an invaluable resource to all who seek relevant information pertaining to the 30 counties in Region 9. The annual data will result in a Regional Needs Assessment available to anyone in the communities.

Population(s) Served

The mission of the Youth Coalition is to enhance the physical, social and economic well-being of youth (ages 12-17) and their families. This Coalition is youth lead and adult assisted. Their focus is educating their peers and community on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
