Mission

In 2003, representatives from local social service agencies, local and regional law enforcement, youth program providers, and concerned citizens gathered to discuss the growing manufacture and use of Methamphetamine in the Coles County area. This group quickly and passionately organized and developed into the Coles County Meth Awareness Coalition (CCMAC).

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Coles County Drug Court is a court-supervised, comprehensive drug addiction treatment program for non-violent offenders. It is a voluntary program which requires regular court appearances and attendance at treatment sessions. In January of 2007, CCMAC furthered its determination to create a regional network of methamphetamine response services and organized the first annual East Central Illinois Regional Methamphetamine Leadership Summit. Kids Carepacks are backpacks filled with basic necessities that will be given to children who are removed from homes where illegal substances have been. Although meth lab seizure statistics are down, children are still being removed from their homes for issues relating to substance abuse. Carepacks will be distributed by the Eastern Illinois Task Force, the Department of Children and Family Services, and the local police. "Carepacks for Canines and Cats" is asking for donations to give a new pet owner a starter pack to take home with their new member of the family. The idea came about because pets are sometimes removed from meth lab homes and drug related homes or have been mistreated or abandoned. Meth Watch is a program to help deter suspicious sales and theft of pseudoephdrine-containing medicines and other products used in the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines.
