Team Building with Horses

A team of people and a herd of horses have a lot in common. They both require strong leadership; clear consistent communication; a keen awareness of the needs and goals of the entire group; and a motivational strategy to achieve them. We can learn a lot about how to become a more successful team, by interacting with horses and learning the dynamics of a horse herd.

The Team Building with Horses program will benefit relationships of all types, including families, corporate groups, athletic teams, theater groups, and any other group of people that work together towards a common goal. It is a four-hour program, consisting of obstacle challenges, games, classroom lecture, demonstrations, and plenty of hands-on experience with horses. The workshop is appropriate for individuals of all levels of physical capability.

Population(s) Served
Adults

The Spirituality & Horses Program is an introduction to the role that horses can play in our quest for greater spiritual awareness. It is an in depth exploration of the energy that we are and how our thoughts – both conscious and unconscious, direct this energy in ways, which greatly impact our lives and the lives of those around us.
This program is a combination of hands on interactions with horses and situational coaching, which enables you to experience firsthand the amazing ability horses have to mirror our energy patterns and states of consciousness. Once you have seen yourself, through the all knowing eyes of the horse, you can move more easily through life issues, which are blocking your progress in your quest for healing, happiness and success.

Population(s) Served
Adults

Our general horse therapy program is designed for those with physical or mental challenges. It consists of a private session with horses, which can last up to one hour, depending on the participant’s capability. This time may be spent grooming, leading or doing ground obstacle work with the horses. In some instances, riding is included in the session, although we are presently limited in what we can offer in that regard. Each session is customized to best serve individual needs.

People with disabilities

Our Volunteer Program is offered to children, ages 7 and above, adults and those with special needs.

Volunteers may participate at whatever level or length of time they are comfortable with.

Activities include:
General barn maintenance,
Cleaning and filling water containers,
Removing manure from stalls and pens,
Preparing and delivering feed and hay to the horses,
Catching & haltering horses,
Picking the horse's hooves,
Leading horses, and
Training horses

Children, younger than 7, may be eligible after requesting and completing an interview to determine their ability to safely participate.

Individuals with special needs, must be accompanied by an assistant, until such time as they demonstrate that they can safely participate without assistance.

Community Service Hours: If you wish to apply for community service hours, you will need to volunteer two times, before applying.

What to Bring: We recommend that you wear sturdy, closed toe shoes, long pants, and a shade hat. The weather can change from cool to very warm in the morning hours, so it is best to bring layered outer wear. You may also want to bring water and a snack.
