Exhibition Series

Transformer presents six, 5-6 week long exhibitions per year, within our exhibition space, at cultural institutions throughout DC and beyond, and via online formats.

Population(s) Served

Launched in March 2004, Transformer’s annual Exercises For Emerging Artists is a peer critique & mentorship program created to support DC based emerging artists at critical points or crossroads in their professional growth and creative development.

Now in its 20th year, this annual spring mentorship program acts as an accelerated MFA course for DC area based artists, providing them with intensive, bi-weekly peer and mentor critiques led by local, national and international arts leaders as they create new work.

Focusing on a different artistic discipline each year, the Exercises culminates in a summer exhibition / exhibition series for the public to engage with artworks created through the program.

Population(s) Served

Siren Arts is an innovative summer residency & exhibition program based in Asbury Park, NJ that supports emerging visual artists throughout the northeast corridor of Washington, DC to NYC.

Population(s) Served

Launched in spring 2007, Transformer's FlatFile is a growing and ever-changing collection of 400+ works by 40+ artists. All works are 2D, sized 16" x 20" or smaller, and priced at $500 and below.

Created to support a broad range of emerging DC based artists in tandem with Transformer’s Exhibition Series, Transformer's evolving FlatFile collection features original artworks and limited print editions and has been presented in art fairs and international exhibitions.

Population(s) Served

Transformer is committed to connecting artists with information on resources and opportunities to support them.
