Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Classic & Contemporary Theatre

Staging theatrical works is our primary service to the community. We produce plays that are critically acclaimed, culturally significant, and dramatically compelling.

Population(s) Served
Adults

An open gathering for theatre artists and community members looking to create and connect through submitting new short plays and reading them together as a group. Anyone is welcome to spectate or participate! This group is for local artists to practice their craft, try new things, stretch themselves artistically, and connect as people.

Population(s) Served
Adults

City Speaks is New City Players’ monthly gathering where people from our city share stories, speak truth, and listen to one another. The project’s aim is to create a space for individuals to share personal stories of beauty, pain, & change, provide a platform where individuals can speak truth to power, and give attendees opportunities to practice public civility and empathy through active listening.

Population(s) Served
Adults

The Forum is New City Players’ gathering where people from our city witness and engage in civil discourse.

The project’s aim is to create a space where essential issues pertinent to the human condition and/or our cultural moment can be discussed and debated with a spirit of charity. In an effort to continually humanize each "issue", the forum will retain a storytelling element familiar to those who have attended City Speaks.

The Forum is a free 2 hour event that includes a panel discussion, storytelling, short presentations, and Q&A followed by a time of public interaction and reflection.
