What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our organization is dedicated to serving and supporting senior dogs belonging to veterans who have passed away or are moving into hospice care. With a growing number of aging veterans, there is an increasing need to find homes for their senior dogs. Our mission is to ensure these senior dogs are kept out of shelters and placed into loving, caring homes where they can spend the remainder of their years in comfort and peace.

Veterans

22 dogs are rescued in 22 days every June to bring awareness to the issue of Veteran Suicide. Statistics show that every day 22 of our nation's veterans make the choice to end their lives. Our patriots deserve the mental health support and care of our nation to treat Depression, PTSD and other war related conditions that they are left battling long after coming home from the battlefield.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our organization aims to provide placement and lifelong medical care for senior dogs who have belonged to veterans. We plan to establish a small facility to support a squad of senior dogs while they await their forever homes. Our goal is to place 30 or more senior dogs in loving homes each year and provide offsite support for another 70 seniors, ensuring that veterans in need have the assistance necessary to care for their beloved companions.

1. Develop Partnerships with Veteran Organizations:
Collaborate with veteran support groups, hospices, and healthcare providers to identify and connect with veterans needing to rehome their senior dogs.

2. Establish a Dedicated Facility:
Secure funding and a suitable location to establish a small facility that houses a squad of senior dogs while they await adoption. Ensure the facility is equipped with the necessary amenities and staffed by trained caregivers.

3. Launch a Foster Care Program:
Recruit and train a network of foster families to provide temporary homes for senior dogs while permanent placements are being arranged. Offer support and resources to foster families to ensure the dogs' well-being.

4. Fundraising and Awareness Campaigns:
Organize fundraising events, online campaigns, and partnerships with local businesses to raise awareness and secure financial support for senior dogs' medical care and rehoming. Highlight success stories to engage the community and attract donors.

5. Provide Comprehensive Veterinary Care:
Partner with veterinary clinics to offer discounted or pro bono medical services for the senior dogs under your care. Ensure each dog receives regular health check-ups, vaccinations, and necessary treatments to maintain their well-being.

1. Established Support System:
We have a dedicated base of small donors who have consistently supported us for nearly a decade, providing a stable financial foundation for our initiatives.

2. Veteran-Founded Expertise:
As a veteran-founded organization, we have an in-depth understanding of senior veterans' challenges, allowing us to tailor our support and services to meet their needs.

3. Property for Housing:
We own a small property capable of housing a squad of 6-12 senior dogs at a time, providing a safe and comfortable environment while they await their forever homes.

4. Veterinary Partnerships:
We have an established relationship with a local veterinarian, ensuring that our senior dogs receive comprehensive medical care at a reasonable cost, supporting their health and well-being.

What have we done ?

1. Rescue and Rehoming:
We have successfully rescued, rehomed, and provided medical care for over 400 senior dogs. Additionally, we have supported another 200 senior dogs through transport, medical assistance, supplies, and boarding.

2. Building a Support Network:
We have established a strong and dedicated group of supporters on social media, and we continue to grow local support and awareness for adopting senior dogs. Our outreach efforts have been instrumental in finding loving homes for these seniors.

3. Commitment to Lifelong Care:
We have consistently upheld our promise to cover the medical care needed for the lifetime of each senior dog we rescue. We have successfully managed to cover all medical costs when they arise, ensuring the well-being of the dogs under our care.

What's Next?

- Expand our rescue and rehoming efforts to support even more senior dogs.
Enhance our facility to accommodate a larger number of dogs awaiting adoption. We have a small space set up for 6-12 seniors. We are looking for an adequately zoned property to create a proper facility for up to 30 seniors at a time that can accommodate the kind of traffic a rescue would have coming in. With current support and funding, this would happen towards the end of a 5-year period. With larger gifts or grants, this could happen within 1-3 years.
-Hire a team of 5-6 full and part-time caretakers to help care for the seniors at Camp so that the recruits are adequately cared for 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.
- Strengthen our partnerships with local businesses and veterinary clinics to ensure sustainable support.
- Continue to grow our network of foster families and volunteers.
- Launch new fundraising and awareness campaigns to secure additional resources and engage the community further.
