Mothering Mothers of Children with Special Needsd
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Mom sets the tone in the home. When Mom is down, so is her family. Our goal is to keep the parents of children with needs afloat. The problem we face on a steady basis is funding the intended activities, events and outings to get them the support they deserve, want and need. The huge problem of parents falling apart under the stress of raising children with special needs can easily be solved by constantly offering them an outlet to alleviate their stress.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Moms to children with special needs are overscheduled and hypervigilant when it comes to the care of their children. They never rest. We afford them the precious gift of menucha – peaceful rest:
- Rest from guilt, shame, judgment and self-doubt
- Rest from the noise of life; a time to be themselves
- Peace of mind that it's ok not to be perfect
- A communal chance to feel less alone
Project Menucha's activities enable mothers to recharge their inner strength, to revitalize their soul, to be with friends who have walked a mile in their shoes. This support system is in a league of its own, and we depend on generous supporters to make it happen.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Life in a special needs household is like living in a house of cards. Things can fall apart at any moment, and everyone looks to mom for a solution. A special needs mom has to:
- Stay strong even when she feels scared and alone
- Make painfully difficult decisions about her child's constant care needs
- Pretend she's ok even when she's hurting inside
- Keep smiling even when all she wants to do is weep
- Relentlessly fight for her child even when she's weary, because no one else will.
But who fights for mom? Project Menucha does
It's our job to save the tears from spilling over. To whisk mom away for a few moments so she has the energy to go on.
We stand behind mothers who are the rock of the home—even when it feels like it's hitting rock bottom.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With the help of our generous sponsors and creativity of our capable staff of volunteers the unbelievable becomes a reality when it comes to treating the mothers of Menucha
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have and keep on accomplishing our goal of gifting the mothers with a surplus of serenity and calm to take home to their families.
We have accomplished our goal of financially assisting the mothers with an extra few hours of cleaning help, a massage, a trip etc. in previous years. We aim to provide more to more parents on an ongoing basis.
