Photoville Festival

The annual festival is a modular venue built from repurposed shipping containers. By creating a physical platform for photographers of all stripes to come together and interact, Photoville provides a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse audience — a veritable cross-section of the world’s photographic community.


New York City’s premier photo destination, the Photoville Festival provides an accessible and engaging venue for compelling and exceptional photography from across the globe, with free admission for all. In 2019, the Photoville Festival welcomed more than 100,000 visitors in 2019, its highest recorded attendance yet.


Photoville Festival NY 2019 presented more than 600 artists across 85 photography exhibitions and outdoor installations, 16 talks & panel discussions, as well as 45 activities, walking tours, and workshops for attendees of all ages. In addition, Photoville organized a free educational field trip for 800 middle and high school students, a professional development workshop for educators, and six extraordinary nighttime programs featuring The New York Times, Waterkeeper Alliance, International Center of Photography, PBS’ Frontline, and National Geographic.

The FENCE is a large-scale traveling photography exhibition reaching over 8 million visitors annually through open-air exhibitions in 11 cities across North America: Brooklyn, Winchester, Atlanta, Houston, , Durham, Denver, New Orleans, The Metro, Sarasota, Seattle, and Calgary, Canada.

Since its inception, THE FENCE has consistently attracted exceptional work by talented photographers from around the world, giving us an opportunity to share these powerful photographic narratives with a diverse audience of millions of visitors annually, while providing photographers with a truly public platform and unexpected career opportunities.
