What we aim to solve
Our mission is on saving the lives and educating the indigenous children of Samburu County who attend Lorubae Primary School. ACInow, provides these children with daily essentials that every child needs a comfortable mattress, mosquito nets, stationery, sanitary towels, blankets and scholarships for children so that they can study and live in the school which protects these young girls and boys from being circumcised at midnight or late in the night when everyone is sleeping. The majority of the girls at Lorubae Primary school are not circumcised, the school provides boarding facilities, and is very underfunded & understaffed. We strive to send as many students as possible to an excellent secondary school, which will prepare them to test at a global level for entrance to universities, & escape the heinous tradition of female genital mutilation (F.G.M), male circumcision at the age of 15, and early marriages at the age of 9. (Please see live videos on FB).
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
African Children's initiative now
We are committed to the complete education of the children in Samburu right from school through secondary education, and University. We enroll our children to high performing schooling and not national schools so that they are able to compete for universities at a global level.
Without education, traditional practices like FGM cannot be eradicated. We believe that every child deserves a chance and that Poverty is not a choice.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
-To improve housing conditions for children at Lorubae Primary School and sanitation. Build homes/sanctuary for girls and boys so that they do not have to return to their villages.
-To educate the children and be able to work with women and children in inner Samburu about the health risks of FGM
-Provide water and shelter to these young children
-We strongly believe that every child deserves a fair chance and that poverty is NOT a choice.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are still a baby as far as nonprofits are concerned, but I got the women of Samburu to make these T-shirts which generated $3000, I plan on putting them on my website so that we can create more revenue. I also applied for a grant where I am doing my MBA for $30,000 which would all go towards building a shelter where these girls can live, by working with Amaro.com. We are working on the shipping charges, costs involved, as well as meeting with Habitat for humanity in Nairobi mid-July.
I also want to provide the women with employment by selling their jewelry on my website in that way they can see how much and at what cost we sell their merchandise, I believe in fair trade. The revenue that we generate will help these women with a better quality of life and most of all independence. Teach them how to save money towards their children's education and open a saving plan, teach them entrepreneurship and become independent and sustainable.
Offer educational volunteer programs so that we can improve the quality of education each child gets. Their current student/teacher ratio is 86:1 so any volunteer help will not only generate revenue but also improve the quality of the education at Lorubae, making it more sustainable.
Currently working on a project that would be travel for our cause where the people can volunteer their time at the school & go on a safari at a reduced cost well as go on a safari.
The more sustainable we can make the charity the stronger the people as we can establish visible progress. I started this charity by self-funding it. I have seen that little can go far if the revenue generated is utilized efficiently. The big progress we have made with the little we had is more than what other NGO's have done in a decade. Our vision and strategy are pure and transparent.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have demonstrated our capabilities by raising donations through:
Selling merchandise made by the Samburu people
Promoting awareness through transparency
Crowdfunding
Volunteer programs
Private donors
Grants
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
I have accomplished building a village and providing them with not just housing but solar panels and water filters as well as pay for their water to be delivered and stored. As I mentioned earlier, acinow.or has provided mattresses, pillows along with mosquito nets for 200 children in Lorubae primary school, provide food and sanitation towels, as well as offer 5 scholarships this year.
To keep this charity sustainable, and benefit the children, we offer volunteer programs for teaching at Lorubae Primary School. Additionally,
we are looking into opening a working site so that the Samburu women are able to design merchandise and get paid on a monthly basis. Their products will be sold online.
This not only creates employment but it dignifies these women, empowering them and making them stronger as well as independent. It gives them a sense of inner strength and freedom to be able to control their own faith and provide for their children. Samburu women are considered second class citizens in a male-dominated culture. Being out of school as early as 9 years old, circumcised and have children in their early teenage years, these women have been held back by no fault of their own. The majority of them can not read or write, are very poor, provide for their children, fetch water and sell their little ornaments to tourists. They are limited to resources, their skills in beading jewelry is a skill that is passed on from generations to generations and their skills have been used and copied by many top band fashions, yet these women have gotten no credit for their work. We want to change that.
This year we also plan on building homes for the children that need protection from being circumcised, once they leave Lorubae Primary School, or attend secondary day schools, or any child in fear of their life. We want to improve the quality of life for these children at Archers Post in Samburu and built the community as a whole so that they can be self-sustainable.
I am a firm believer that leaders make leaders, not followers. That when you educate a woman, you educate a village. Education is a powerful tool that can break social and cultural barriers. It's every child's right, to have a fair chance in life.
