What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Blue Humming Therapy has been dedicated to providing mental health support to a diverse clientele and communities. However, we are currently grappling with challenges related to the limited availability of our professional resources, including clinicians and support staff, in comparison to the high volume of client contacts we receive daily. The increasing demand for mental health support has resulted in longer waiting times. We recognize the urgency of the situation as more individuals express their need for mental health support. The extended waiting times, while reflective of the overwhelming demand, are not conducive to our clients' well-being. Many of our clients are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, social pressures, relationship challenges, racism, and everyday stress. In response to these challenges, Blue Humming Therapy is actively seeking ways to enhance our

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our overarching goal is to establish a robust and inclusive mental health support system that prioritizes diversity and addresses the unique needs of minorities within our communities. This goal encompasses two key components:

1)Inclusive Counseling Services:

We aspire to create a counseling service that reflects the diversity of our communities across various dimensions, including culture, age, gender, and financial backgrounds. Our objective is to recruit and empower a team of mental health professionals with a broad spectrum of experiences, ensuring that individuals seeking support encounter counselors who understand and respect their unique circumstances. By fostering inclusivity, we aim to create a safe and supportive space for individuals of all backgrounds to access quality mental health care.

2)Empowering Psychoeducation Initiatives:

Complementing our counseling services, we aim to provide comprehensive psychoeducation initiatives that address the specific challenges faced by different minority groups. These programs will cover a range of mental health topics with a focus on diversity, mindfulness, compassion, stress management, and parenting. Our goal is to empower individuals, irrespective of age, gender, or financial status, to proactively manage their mental well-being by imparting knowledge and skills that are relevant and sensitive to their unique circumstances. Through community events, webinars, and collaborative learning experiences, we strive to create an inclusive environment where individuals can enhance their mental health literacy and connect with others who share similar experiences.

By achieving these goals, we envision a mental health support ecosystem that recognizes and embraces the diversity present in our communities, promoting resilience, self-empowerment, and a collective commitment to mental health across various minority groups.

To achieve our goals, we have following strategies:

1)Diversity-Competent Counseling Services:
-Offer diversity-competent counseling services to clients and communities.
-Recruit a diverse team of mental health professionals.
-Provide ongoing training for counselors on diverse competencies.
-Ensure accessibility by offering services in multiple languages.

2)Workshops/Seminars/Groups for Stress Management:
-Conduct workshops, seminars, and support groups for stress management.
-Tailor programs to be culturally sensitive and inclusive.
-Collaborate with community leaders to reduce stigma and encourage participation.

3)Psychoeducation Opportunities:
-Create psychoeducational materials on various mental health topics.
-Foster a sense of community through shared experiences and learning.

4)Community Engagement and Partnerships:
-Collaborate with local organizations, community centers, and religious institutions.
-Conduct outreach programs to raise mental health awareness.
-Establish partnerships with schools, workplaces, and other institutions.

5)Online Resources and Support:
-Develop a user-friendly online platform with mental health resources.

6)Continuous Assessment and Improvement:
-Regularly assess program effectiveness through surveys and feedback.
-Be flexible and adapt services based on evolving clients and community needs.

Blue Humming Therapy takes pride in its team of thoughtful, caring, and highly professional clinicians and support staff who are dedicated to providing humanistic and quality services to our clients and communities. Our organization is characterized by diversity and integration, fostering a collaborative environment where all staff members support each other and value teamwork.

Notably, our clinicians bring a rich tapestry of backgrounds to our organization. Some have grown up in the United States, while others have immigrated from various countries. This diversity extends to their knowledge, experiences, and cultural perspectives. Our clinicians possess a wealth of expertise in working with diverse and minority clients and communities.

In addition to offering direct counseling services in face-to-face settings, our clinicians actively contribute to the community by providing psychoeducation and seminars in companies, schools, and organizations. This multifaceted approach reflects our commitment to leveraging our diverse backgrounds to tailor our services to the unique needs of the individuals and communities we serve. Through this diversity, Blue Humming Therapy ensures a comprehensive and inclusive approach to mental health support.

Over the last six months, Blue Humming Therapy has successfully implemented a clinical program, extending crucial support to more clients. Our dedicated clinicians and staff consistently provide compassionate and high-quality care, establishing trust and making us the preferred choice for our clients. The demand for our services remains high, with a substantial number of clients awaiting support. Increasing the number of clinicians poses a challenge, as it places significant responsibility on our operational staff to ensure seamless support for both clients and clinicians.

In 2022, we provided about 2800 individual, couple, and family session beside our service to the many communities. It's noteworthy that an impressive 80% of our clients belong to very diverse minority groups, and we proudly serve an additional 25% facing financial challenges. This distinctive statistic sets us apart, as opposed to most agencies that primarily support 90% majority populations. Our commitment to serving diverse and financially challenged clients emphasizes the significance of our work in addressing the unique needs of underserved communities.

In our pursuit of service excellence, Blue Humming Therapy is actively seeking funding or financial support to enhance our operational capacity. This support will empower us to potentially hire more clinicians in the near future, accelerating our ability to deliver humanistic and professional services to our clients and communities promptly.

Data
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
