Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To prevent dental decay in children. Reduce the number of children that experience untreated dental decay.

To partner with schools that have a high population of low income families and provide preventative dental services in the school setting. To purchase and manage/maintain a fleet of Mobile Dental Clinics. To provide the clinical environment that is able to serve at the school site. To create professional relationships with volunteer dental providers in those communities. Combine all these factors and offer dental services that prevent dental decay in children.

We served 1200 children in our first year. We implemented a growth plan to expand services based on school, student and provider recruitment goals of 10% per year.

Increase our capacity to care for 8,000 children in the 2021-2022 school year

Increase our capacity o care for 10,000 children in 2023/2024 school year

Our first year we had a target of servicing 5 schools and treating 240 children. We have seen over 500 children so far. We should finish our first school year with 10 schools and 1200 children served, well above our expectation.

In 2019-2020 we were on target to care for 6,000 children but then COVID hit and we had to stop providing care on 3/13/20. This left approximately 2500 children to postpone dental access until further notice.

2021-2022 Not only do we plan to service all 100 existing (pre-Covid) schools, we will increase the number of school to 125.

2022-2023 We were able to increase the number of schools served by 8 elementary and 7 pre-schools. We are on track to to serve 10,000 children in the 2023/2024 school calendar.

Data
  • We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
  • We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
