Keep It Oakland
Keep It Oakland is a campaign brought to you by the Oakland Indie Alliance, a coalition of over 400 small business owners who contribute culturally, socially, and economically to Oakland, California. Keep It Oakland aims to amplify awareness, uplift and support independent businesses that are crucial to Oakland’s culture, community, and local economy. Keep It Oakland does this with Instagram and Facebook (10K followers), the keepitoakland.town website's online store locator and directory, as well as providing local business gift card bundles and locally designed and manufactured merchandise. All donation funds for Keep It Oakland support OIA’s grassroots organization that supports, uplifts and organizes local, independent businesses in Oakland.

Repair Fund
No Justice, no peace. Oakland Indie Alliance stands in solidarity with those fighting for justice and police accountability in the streets of Oakland. In some cases, our members are the ones on the street standing arm in arm with the community.
The storefronts of our small, local, independent businesses have been damaged, in a time when small businesses are already struggling to survive. Please help support of repair fund so we can ensure the sustainability of our local small business community.
From OIA's 2020 Impact Report:
-OIA received 1,942 donations with the average contribution being $74
-92 grants of $600 were awarded.
-90% of grantees were BIPOC, immigrant, women, and/or queer-owned.
Given how often unforeseeable events can damage small businesses, OIA's Repair Fund can and will continue supporting small businesses year round. We've made our repair fund evergreen, donate to help keep the repair fund active.

COVID-19 Recovery Fund
In 2020, OIA created a fund to help business owners struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund was then allocated to accepted applicants in individual grants of $5,000. In addition to helping business owners access Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Funding from the city, OIA’s COVID Relief Fund served as an alternative or additional source of economic aid. OIA’s unique structure as a community-based coalition of small businesses allowed funds to be efficiently distributed to business owners that needed it.
17 grants administered
88% of recipients identified as POC
71% of recipients identified as female
35% of recipients were born and raised in Oakland
Parklet Program
We worked to build 6 parklets for local small businesses to help them survive COVID. For many businesses, parklets have been a lifeline to keep their operation afloat, however building a parklet is both complex and expensive. To help fill this gap, OIA pulled together pro bono architects, designers, and builders to create free parklets for small businesses using donated materials (all at no cost to the small business).
