The incidence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia's continues to increase nationally, and more and more family members are finding themselves thrust into care giving roles. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.8 million individuals live with the disease in the United States. In the state of Florida there are an estimated 520,000 people with Alzheimer’s Disease. Our organization is inspired to help support those on a local level with encouragement, community awareness and support programs.

Care Coaching

The role of a Care Coach is designed to help individuals impacted by dementia and their care supporters navigate the journey through the care process. As an advocate and teacher, a Coach helps empower caregivers with a focus on understanding and assistance with coordinating the care needs of a loved one. The goal of this service is to lighten the burden, the feeling of being overwhelmed and the uncertainty that comes with trying to support the day to day life of a loved one along with your own.

Organizational Goals and Objectives:

Empower others with information
Reduce the negative stigma associated with having dementia
Enhance knowledge and understanding needed to reduce the burden of care support

Our organization is actively engaged in various educational programs, community outreach and respite care grants in support of our local community.

Our organization is a collaborative effort supported by local professionals and volunteers. Founded and Directed by, Ruth Anne Ristow with a Master's in Geriatric Social Work, Graduate Specialization and Alzheimer's and Related Disorders and doctoral level education in Organizational Leadership. She brings 30 plus years of experience in the long term care industry in various service oriented, leadership roles into the work she is doing for our organization.

In late 2019, we were able to kick start a respite care grant program and are developing our first ever day long educational event for the community for the fall of 2020. Starting in 2019, we are hosting a quarterly networking event for professionals working to educate our community on dementia related support matters. All three initiatives have been met with great enthusiasm and are supporting efforts for growing collaboration in our local community.
