Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Therapy Animal Teams

Our primary focus is supporting and providing registered therapy animal teams to facilities that request them, on a long term basis. We also coordinate therapy animals for seasonal events such as college exams and reading camps. We have approximately 80 teams who visit a number of facilities in Middle TN, including hospitals, senior residential communities, Veterans organizations, juvenile courts, and elementary schools as part of our Read with Me initiative. Our program is strictly volunteer and there is minimal cost to our organization associated with this program.  Incidental expenses may include printing materials, online classes, website maintenance.

Population(s) Served

Music City Pet Partners provides evaluations of
prospective therapy animal teams to ensure consistent high quality volunteer
teams; and re-evaluations of existing therapy animal teams to ensure continuing high quality service to facilities
utilizing therapy animal teams. Evaluation days, with a maximum of 8 team evaluations per day, are scheduled at least 10 times per year depending on needs. Costs associated with this activity include facility rentals, printing and online services, laptop and incidental expenses.

Population(s) Served

Music City Pet Partners provides educational resources to its volunteers through the Pet Partners website as well as those resources developed or found by its members.  MCPP also strongly recommends that volunteers take continuing education classes to stay abreast of new developments in their areas of interest relating to animal assisted interventions.  Speakers will be available to our volunteers on various topics including animal behavior, animal training techniques, human/animal bonds, animal assisted interventions, types of physical and occupational therapies, counseling techniques, hospital policies and procedures, and other areas of interest suggested by our volunteers.  We provide referrals to animal training professionals in the area.  We also conduct group gatherings where training essentials, as well as socialization, are reinforced.  Costs related to this program may include facility costs, printing and other incidental expenses.

Population(s) Served

Music City Pet Partners is available to speak to any interested community group such as service clubs, schools, universities, local and county officials, chambers of commerce, to name a few.  We are also available to attend public events supporting causes that may utilize therapy animals in their services to their clients.  MCPP also encourages its volunteer teams to support the Pet Partners' initiatives for the 'Read with Me' and 'Walk with Me' programs.  Both programs provide beneficial activities supporting reading and fitness initiatives on a local level.Costs associated with this activity include printing and incidental expenses.
