Mission

The Writer's Workout seeks to motivate and encourage self-growth and development of creative writers around the world through accessible education. We can help you be a better writer.

Notes from the nonprofit

We never collect demographic data on our members; we find that outside organizations' repeated insistence on collecting demographic data is intrusive to our members' personal safety as it serves absolutely no purpose in our mission to help writers improve and does not in any way affect our members' capacity to learn creative writing. The outside organizations focusing on segregating people by race forces populations into a box that hinders their progress. We choose to focus on individual capability and providing wide accessibility instead.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Writer's Workout seeks to help creative writers around the world take responsibility for their own improvement. We help writers publish their work, improve the quality of published fiction, and ensure the future of the literary community.

The Writer's Workout provides the award-winning annual competition, The Writer's Games, as well as an internship program to help the future of the literary industry learn more about the writers they will serve.
We provide a quarterly competition, Fiction Potluck, to showcase works created by the writing community. Each quarter features an industry professional as a guest judge, showing that success is possible.
We produce a quarterly literary journal and an annual anthology to assist writers pursuing their publication dreams.
We also provide a social space for writers to connect, chat, and provide feedback for each other, as well as access to free workshops with industry professionals.

The Writer's Workout works remotely with writers around the world to identify and fill problem areas and gaps in education. We address the problems non-native English speakers face when trying to break into the English publishing market. Our volunteers and members live on six continents, providing ample opportunities for writers from all cultures to find and perfect their author voice.

The Writer's Workout publishes six books a year, featuring the creative fiction and poetry of a hundred new authors annually. We provide free workshops and mini-courses with room to submit for the challenge and recently launched an educational YouTube channel to provide other options for neurodiverse writers to participate. In 2024, we hosted our first free, virtual writing conference; video workshops are available indefinitely to make them more accessible.
