TXFNE Forensic Center of Excellence

Texas Forensic Nurses Examiners: Forensic Center of Excellence (TXFNE) is a 24/7 victim service center offering a variety of services, including medical forensic exams, advocacy, adult forensic interviews and legal support. TXFNE provides medical forensic exams 24 hours a day for victims of sexual assault of all ages, intimate pattern violence, human trafficking, and child abuse and elder maltreatment.

The Forensic Center conducts forensic interviews for adult victims and witnesses (17 and older) of violence, including sexual assault, human trafficking, and interpersonal violence.

Population(s) Served

TXFNE offers follow-up and supportive services to help victims find accessible resources in their community. Our goal is to help connect victims to resources within their community increasing the connection and support with our community partners for more holistic care.

TXFNE provides free legal assistance to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or abuse, and human trafficking access legal protections such as temporary and permanent orders of protections. Clients may be eligible for other legal representation related to expungements and petitions for nondisclosure.

TXFNE provides forensic nursing education and adult forensic interviewing education. TXFNE's nursing education includes: Sexual assault nurse examiner, adult, adolescent and pediatric courses, sexual assault skills workshops and clinical precepting. TXFNE's adult forensic interviewing education includes trauma-informed interviewing techniques for adult victim and witnesses of crime.
