Two Brothers Farms
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Depression and suicide here in America among children under the age of 18, the incarceration gap among African Americans from low-income neighborhoods, the needs of physical therapy for children who suffer from disabilities, and gang recruitment of our teenagers under 15.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
STEM on the Farm
STEM on the Farm takes an innovative approach, blending farming with 21st Century Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, STEM learning opportunities through formal and informal learning environments that engage a broader audience in meaningful STEM experiences. The project addresses early methods to increase diversity in youth from underserved and underrepresented communities, improve participation among girls, and address student boredom from current teaching practices. Ultimately, STEM on the Farm will transform how children cultivate a lifelong interest in STEM at an early age, encouraging more youth of low-income backgrounds to pursue STEM careers later in life.
The Veterans Project
Mississippi’s grassroots project for connecting veterans with resources to succeed in farming, non farm related business, and life.
Future Farmers of Mississippi
The project aims to provide hands-on training and technical assistance, improve the participation among socially disadvantaged or veteran farmers and ranchers in USDA programs, and identify and address barriers of entry for current and prospective socially disadvantaged farmers.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Studies have shown that poor readers, who aren’t reading at a grade level, are more likely to be disruptive in the classroom, truant from school, and at a higher risk of dropping out of high school.
Our project adheres to at-risk students and students with learning and reading disabilities to improve their reading skills to the point where they can succeed in school and develop the reading skills that will prepare them for high school and post-secondary education. Providing a measurable increase in reading speed, comprehension, and reading attention span.
Prevent substance abuse among school-age children k-12. Our program targets children at an age when they are most receptive to drug prevention education and before they are likely to have experimented with tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
Provide the skills for recognizing and resisting social pressures to experiment with tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.
To teach positive alternatives to drug use, gang activity, and violence.
To develop student skills in risk assessment, decision making, and conflict resolution.
3. Being that Mississippi ranks highest in obesity Fit Across Mississippi is designed to address the areas of physical activity and healthy nutrition options. That can help children achieve and maintain a healthy weight and attitude about weight.
4. Our primary objective is to distribute books to children participating in our program. To encourage our youth to read for pleasure, write stories, and help younger students with their reading skills.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. By November 27, 2019, serving 10,000 meals to the homeless population here in Meridian. This will be accomplished by partnering with Loves Kitchens whose sole mission is to feed the hungry.
2. By the end of the first year, at least 70% of children in the program will see their test scores improve by at least one letter grade. This can be achieved by building strong relationships with our teachers, teachers and students are provided with follow-up written materials and assignments.
3. By the summer of 2020, Two Brothers Farms will have Raised $40,000 to send 150 underprivileged kids to football and basketball camp.
4. At the program’s completion, at least 90% of participants will report gang activity and membership among youth in our program has made a major decrease in our community. This will be measured by a pre-and post-survey. We aim to listen to each student and connect them to positive resources, and by helping them continue their education, and become positive members of our communities.
5. Prevent substance abuse among school-age children k-12 can only be accomplished by building strong, long-term, loyal relationships with our kids. Exposing them to greater more fulfilling actives in life is a start. This one is on them! Whoever comes through our doors is family and will always be family. Having someone holding you accountable for your actions makes all the difference.
6. We work with individuals, but we also need the support of our community. By creating strong, long-term relationships with specific individuals and focusing on the quality of those relationships, rather than on individual transactions will make us successful. We will US mail, email, phone calls, and other communications tactics to communicate directly with people to join our mission.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a very knowledgeable who direct their skills in working with youth to achieve our organization's goals.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our vision for the future is a full facility that can offer Therapeutic Equine riding, economic development classes for low-income families, and an after school program that offers enrichment learning for kids who come from single-parent homes.
