Habitat for Humanity, The Heart of Wyoming was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. Across Wyoming, a significant need for adequate and safe housing remains, and our organization provides support to households as they navigate their path to homeownership.

Homeownership Program
Available in Natrona County, family’s partner to build their home, then purchase the home at an affordable mortgage. Home buyers participate in required sweat equity as well as home buyer education. To date, 44+ homes have been built in Natrona County.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to increase the housing stability of Wyoming households because the lives of children and adults are enriched as they dwell in safety and warmth. The organization aims to increase access to homeownership across Wyoming through financial literacy programs, construction of homes and access to affordable mortgage financing.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Through financial literacy programs, construction of affordable homes, and access to mortgage financing for low-income households, the organization promotes housing stability for Wyoming families.
Habitat Homeownership Program: Available in Natrona County, family’s partner to build their home, then purchase the home at an affordable mortgage. Homebuyers participate in required sweat equity as well as homebuyer education courses. To date, 40+ homes have been built in Natrona County.
Financial Literacy and Education: In partnership with our partner, the Wyoming Housing Network, future homeowners participate in a Homebuyer Education program which prepares them for the responsibilities of and transition into homeownership. For Natrona County households, a Financial Foundations class is held in-person twice per year in a classroom setting and provides education on how to budget, credit reports, and preparing household finances for homeownership.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The organization has proudly been in service for 25 years. The organization’s team of professional staff members are equipped to assist households as they navigate a path into homeownership. Staff members receive ongoing professional development to maintain a high standard of professional services. A diverse and experienced Board of Directors guide the organization’s future strategies and plan intentionally to ensure the stewardship of resources always focus on those being served.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The organization is proudly developing a 13-lot subdivision and expanding both the financial literacy program as well as access to mortgage financing for low-income households even in the most rural areas of Wyoming. The organization is focusing on strategic partnerships to reduce unnecessary duplication of services and preserve the ability to direct resources to the areas and needs which are greatest.
