What we aim to solve
There tends to be an employment stereotype surrounding individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). They can be viewed as being not able to perform well enough for employment because they are untrainable for positions or they can be viewed as unable to deal with the public in a way that promotes a company positively. Lives of Purpose aims to change the way the community thinks about this section of our population.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Lives of Purpose, Inc. is working to create an employment atmosphere for special needs individuals that is fully accepting and supportive. The coffee shop will be a place where employees can learn job skills in a manner that helps them strive to be the best they can be. The training of IDD employees will be specialized so that they fully understand and can perform the task required for the job with no pressure. In setting up such an employment atmosphere, Lives of Purpose hopes that the community will also see the value these individuals bring to a job and that new employment opportunities will arise.
