What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Bridge Back Initiative
Everyone deserves a second chance, and at The Bridge Club of Greater Lowell, we strive to ensure that second chances are meaningful and impactful. We understand the struggles of returning to society after a brush with the law. That’s why we offer a comprehensive suite of services and resources aimed at offering a hand to individuals on their journey back to a fulfilled, productive life.
Our program identifies those who would greatly benefit from employment opportunities, substance use disorder recovery support (including Recovery Coaching and Recovery Meetings), as well as other community-based services, and integrates these into the disposition of their underlying criminal case. The Bridge Club also provides transportation to and from work for up to one year.
This personalized approach ensures that no one falls through the cracks and everyone receives the help they need to reintegrate successfully.
Veterans Bridge Back Initiative
The Veterans' Bridge Back Initiative offers all services of the Bridge Back Initiative, such as substance use disorder recovery support (including Recovery Coaching and Recovery Meetings), assistance with identifying and applying to our CORI-friendly employer partners, and transportation to and from work for up to one year, and adds additional services such as paid housing support, veteran-specific intensive outpatient programs (IOPs), and vocational training.
Recovery Coaching Services
The Bridge Club of Greater Lowell proudly offers recovery coaching to people in recovery from, or who are attempting to recover from, recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. A recovery coach supports a client in pursuing their own goals. While a person classified as a counselor or a therapist might diagnose addictive behavior and prescribe treatment, this is not the coach’s focus. Recovery coaches practice active listening through various methods. Coaches encourage self care, and point clients toward helpful strategies which can include mindfulness, and replacing drinking with new activities or rituals, like going to the gym.
Coaches also support people in taking daily steps toward attainable goals. If someone is abstinent, for example, their coach can support them in rebuilding their lives and relationships. If someone is still drinking, coaches can help set realistic reduction goals, and help the client stay accountable to themselves.
Recovery Coach Academy
The Bridge Club of Greater Lowell offers Recovery Coach training once quarterly using the curriculum of Connecticut Center for Addiction Recovery's (CCAR's) Recovery Coach Academy. The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is an innovative new approach to healing people's lives that is unlike any other training. Utilizing a dynamic approach to learning that blends both process and content, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience that has been referred to as "pure recovery genius". If you're ready to learn, be challenged, and reap valuable rewards for life, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a must for anyone in the recovery field.
The lessons taught in the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© expand way beyond the role of a recovery coach, as many graduates leave feeling a greater sense of self, solidifying their position as allies in the every changing recovery community.
