Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Safe To Be aims to build housing accommodations that reduce the number of homeless romantic & gender diverse folks within an eight-hour drive from the Northwest Arkansas region. In addition to providing shelter, Safe To Be aims to build a community that is safe for people to grow and thrive personally and professionally. In order to accomplish this, we will provide a place for acceptance, a space for mentorship, as well as community outreach and education combating negative stereotypes against romantic & gender diverse folks. Safe To Be’s goals are to plan for and build the full infrastructure of the tiny home community on the farm/homestead which currently has limited infrastructure. This will include setting up the utilities for the community buildings and infrastructure. We plan to achieve these goals by a combination of fundraising, private donations, and applying for capital grants.

Safe To Be is located in the Northwest region of Arkansas and provides a safe space for marginalized lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (romantic & gender diverse) people by offering emergency, transitional, and permanent housing with an emphasis on transgender inclusion.
To accomplish the goal of Safe To Be, we utilize a combination of fundraising, grants, and volunteer people hours. We also intend to hire consultants and contractors to see the process through. The construction of the tiny home community will be completed in multiple phases.
We currently offer emergency/transitional housing in a supportive and affirming environment through our partnership with a motel. In the future, when our tiny home community is built, we will offer permanent housing to individuals and will partner with local and regional organizations to provide healthcare, job training, and food assistance. Through research, development, and collaboration with organizations and individuals, we will utilize established data to ensure we are meeting the needs of individuals in the community. Our experience with social media and marketing allows us to communicate with our supporters and potential clients on a regular basis. The organization is a 100% volunteer-run, guided by an advisory board, and officers managing the day-to-day operations. Non-leadership, non-membership, flexible drop-in volunteer opportunities are available based on skills and time commitments.

We currently offer emergency/transitional housing in a supportive and affirming environment through our partnership with a motel.
