The SEED School of Los Angeles County

The SEED School of Los Angeles County’ (SEED LA) goal is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by helping very low-income students attend and graduate college through a unique, college-prep public boarding school model. With the gift of time and deeply rooted mentorships, SEED students develop a connection between hard work and success. Based on the experience of its schools, SEED believes access to a quality education and college completion can break the cycle of poverty.

SEED LA will be a public, boarding STEM high school serving 400 students who are homeless youth, foster youth, and those who have experienced unrelenting poverty or trauma. Approximately 50% of students will come from South LA, where the school will be located, and 50% throughout LA County. It is anticipated that all students will come from families that qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, which means that a family of four makes less than $40,000 per year.
