Mission

FOR A CHILD WHO HAS EXPERIENCED TRAUMA, THE WORLD CAN BE A SCARY PLACE. At OrphanWise, we believe healing is possible — some children just need special care to overcome and thrive. Our mission is to get the right tools to the caregivers who need it most. We equip adoptive parents, foster parents, children’s home staff, teachers, child welfare professionals and churches to work with at-risk and traumatized children.

TBRI Training

Leveraging Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®), OrphanWise offers training to those who work with children and teens who come from difficult backgrounds, such as foster or adopted children or children who have experienced abuse, bereavement, neglect and other trauma. Developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development at Texas Christian University, TBRI® teaches participants to look beyond the surface and heal the long-term root of children’s behavioral issues.

Population(s) Served

Through our individualized TBRI® coaching sessions, OrphanWise provides intensive support and personalized counsel to families in crisis. In these sessions, we empower parents to discover and leverage their family’s unique strengths, address their unique challenges and, ultimately, reduce domestic conflicts that arise from children’s problem behaviors. By setting specific, realistic goals and working with a coach to achieve them, caregivers are empowered to take an active role in their child’s healing.
