Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The goal of the Mr. Local History Project is simple. We promote history with a social twist, meaning that everything we do to promote local history ties back to our communities. Social impact matters as part of the strategy to connect people with history in a fun way that they will remember.
One of our goals is to teach children about their local history. One program we sponsor is called "Project Local Ambassador" where we visit schools and present each student in the 5th grade with an official township flag. We then explain the history of the flag, then tell them to go home and tell their family everything they own. For years, that student will keep that flag and always remember the local history of their community.
Our elder voices program brings together elders to tell stories of their upbringing over the years for younger guests to learn about growing up in the area. It's their own living grandparent. Lively, entertaining, and shares history in new ways.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Quality education includes understanding the history of your state and your community. Mr. Local History has broadened their coverage across Central New Jersey and now covers the entire state.
