Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Stress Relief

We use basic ornamental blacksmithing and related skills as a means to relieve stress. We hope to turn frustrated, angry energy into positive, creative energy, and preserve an ancient art. In our program, two mentors mentor up to eight participants in the smithy on Saturday and Sunday. Sessions include introductions, shop orientation, instruction on shop tools and their use, safety briefing, and work on projects. Projects include wall hook, S-hooks, barbecue fork, steak flipper, bottle openers, feather, leaf keychain fob, split crosses, hummingbirds and other projects. Sessions are self-paced and participants may come back as often as they like. They may progress to knife making, continue to develop blacksmith skills, or simply come to relieve stress and enjoy the atmosphere. All materials are provided, and there is NO COST to our target audience.
