What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
2nd Grade Library Card Campaign
The 2nd Grade Library Card Campaign provides students with their first library card and other Library-branded materials (backpack, children's book). The program develops literacy skills and makes library usage a positive habit.
Family Read Aloud Nights
The Family Read Aloud Night (FRAN) program offers free dinner and a night of storytime performances at Title I schools for low-income families. The performances include song and dance, costumes, and interaction. Children go home with a book bag and free library book, and are encouraged to sign up for a free library card.
There are typically four FRAN events per year, two in the spring and two in the fall.
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program incentivizes people of all ages to read outside of school. It provides a point for every minute logged during the summer months, with prizes available based on point milestones.
There are different levels for kids, teens, and adults. The program also features events, games, and special programs. Friends support funds prizes for participants.
Seed Library
The seed library provides up to three free seed packets per month to any Scottsdale Public Library cardholder. Seeds can be planted in a home garden to produce edible plants and herbs.
Seeds are selected based on seasonal growing conditions.
