Program 1

For Civic Engagement programming, Migrant Equity sent out employees and volunteers to inform the community of upcoming elections, voting locations and dates, and voting rights. Also, again during the subsequent run-off. All advertisements and information shared was in English and Spanish.

The Migrant Equity Direct Assistance Program helped many immigrants and refugees in Georgia with rent or food assistance. Assistance with things like diapers, school supplies, and furniture was given to community members. Migrant Equity staff and volunteers also assisted with translations when needed and helped connect community members with medical, legal, and educational resources. They helped local immigrants file their DACA paperwork with the help of an immigration lawyer and paid the registration fee. Migrant Equity Southeast also had its first scholarship to offer DACA students.

Migrant Equity helped local communities with COVID relief. They gave out masks, sanitizer, and self-testing kits. They also hosted many vaccine events administered by medical professionals and shared crucial information related to COVID in Spanish.
