Educate, Empower and Inspire
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
An estimated 57 million children don’t attend school, and more than half live in sub-Saharan Africa. Our big, bold vision for the future is to Educate, Inspire and Empower children with all the necessary resources they need to succeed in their primary and secondary education. It is our dream to see every school-aged child around the world receive access to all necessary resources to support the provision of quality education. Using the United Nations Sustainable development standard number 4, 5 and 10 as our framework, we aim to reduce these figures for all boys and girls to have access to a quality affordable primary and secondary education by 2030.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
An estimated 57 million children don’t attend school, and more than half live in sub-Saharan Africa. Our big, bold vision for the future is to Educate, Inspire and Empower children with all the necessary resources they need to succeed in their primary and secondary education. It is our dream to see every school-aged child around the world receive access to all necessary resources to support the provision of quality education. Using the United Nations Sustainable development standard number 4 as our framework, we aim to reduce these figures for all boys and girls to have access to a quality affordable primary and secondary education by 2030.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Here is what we are doing
We have a weekly stand-up scrum meeting where we discuss our plans and review our success and failure.
We methodically plan events to be carried out through out the course of the year with deadlines. With12 volunteers at the moment, we are strategically reaching out to friends and family in our close networks to raise funds. We are also applying for grants locally and federal for assistance. We are performing services like teaching dance lessons, selling merchandise etc. We have implemented fundraiser Online platforms - GoFundme, DonorBox, Givebutter, roundapp. We also have a community outreach lead who works on fundraising through our local sponsorship program. We have a fundraising Gala coming up where we invite everyone in the community to attend. We have also set up small scalable events like fundraising donut sales through dunkin donuts where volunteers promote amongst friends in social circles to purchase at a 50% profit. All proceed of course goes towards our project in Ghana this year. Finally, some of us are utilizing our spare time for Driving uber and lyft to reach our financial goals.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our program provides academic assistance, youth development, and supplementary activities. Services and activities include tutoring, internet access, informational workshops and active discussions for college and high school preparation, STEAM activities, Literacy intervention, and English Lab. Our primary focus is currently on the continent of Africa where we have identified a tumultuous amount of service opportunities for many primary school children between the ages of 3-9 years old. We have 2 programs that ensure that both the recipients of our charity work and the participating volunteers get the best experience out of it. Our first program, the volunteerism program is curated with a 5 day workshop where we cover topics from digital awareness and early language intervention skills. Additionally we perform construction projects focused on refurbishing to schools. This allows volunteers to be able to participate in a team building exercise while doing some good. All funding would help support generating a pool of resources that will cater to specific educational needs for these children. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavors, we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs and make a difference in the lives of these beautiful children.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Last year we were able to raise about $9000 including all physical donations of school supplies, shoes, school uniforms , hygiene kits, sporting materials and backpacks to 70 primary school children. We planed and effectively and successfully executed 3 fundraising campaigns that got us what we needed in 3 months. Even though we didn't meet our full financial goals we were able to take what we got to the rural village in Ghana. We met 600 primary school children but were only able to help 70 of them because of our limitations in funding and supplies. That is what inspired us to come back and do more.
We have increased in volunteer size from the 4 friends who started this to 12. All of whom are coming along to Africa this year on their own financial steam.
Every volunteers has sacrificed much of their time already and energy into helping move this righteous train forward.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
