Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Scholarships Plus
To increase access to educational opportunities for all students, The Public Education Foundation provides $6 million in college scholarships each year to help students pursue their dreams of attending college or vocational school. Each year, more than 300 scholarship opportunities are available to students.
Over the last decade, approximately $26.2 million in scholarships have been awarded to more than 6,000 students. Opportunities are available for everyone ranging from the resilient student who overcame obstacles to high school athletes and artists.
By finding the scholarship that’s right for them, students can pursue their academic dreams and contribute their skills and knowledge as an essential part of a well-educated workforce in a thriving economy.
PEF Teacher Superstore
PEF Teacher Superstore (formerly the Teacher EXCHANGE) provides school supplies to teachers to reduce their out-of-pocket expenses. These supplies are then shared with students who often can’t afford them. A recent survey from the United States Department of Education found that 94% of teachers spend their own funds on school supplies, with the average teacher spending $480 a year. For $26, a teacher receives supplies worth up to $500.
Teacher Pathway
Teacher Pathway recruits, supports, and retains diverse, qualified individuals committed to a teaching career in CCSD. This “grow your own” teacher training program focuses on addressing Clark County’s chronic teacher shortage by helping current paraprofessionals complete a teacher training program.

Teacher Pathway recruits, supports, and retains local diverse, qualified individuals committed to a teaching career in CCSD. This “grow your own” teacher training program focuses on addressing Clark County’s chronic teacher shortage. 68% of participants are continuing on the path to becoming licensed teachers.
Artists with Kids inspires CCSD students to express their creativity and foster a lifelong engagement in the arts by creating experiences that connect them with community artists. Our goal is to provide young artists with opportunities in the art community.
The Clark County School District, the Public Education Foundation, and Spread the Word Nevada have also partnered to create the CCSD Book Bus! The Book Bus connects students with free books to increase literacy and spark interest in reading among students and their families. Our goal is to distribute 75,000 free books during the 2023-2024 school year.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
To build off the 30 years of knowledge and growth so we can continue to be a partner in the CCSD community for all the underserved youth in Southern Nevada. To see local students enter the Teacher's Pathway Program and become CCSD teachers of the future. This incredible program is partnered with UNLV which allows for amazing mentorships for local students to enter the CCSD workforce. Teacher Superstore has given out mass supplies to CCSD teachers with a membership. We would love to make sure all teachers have the supplies they need to perform at their best level for teaching the youth. This will be possible with funders and donations to the Superstore.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
