Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Old Library Studio currently serves approximately 200 creative teens ages 14 - 19 each year, through a variety of after school and in school programming. The studio is currently working to grow it's capacity, through increased outreach to local schools.

A lean mean arts-education machine, Old Library Studio operates on an annual budget of under $100,000 with a very small staff and a handful of highly engaged volunteers.

The flagship of Old Library Studio is the after school music technology program for teens. Classes run throughout the year, offered in four quarterly sessions. Classes range in price from $80 - $200 and cover a range of topics including; composing music using computers & digital instruments, creating professional quality music recordings, performing in a popular music group, and performing improvised experimental music in a group setting.

Old Library Studio's outreach programs to local schools help bring music technology into local classrooms, provide professional development training for teachers, and have proved to be very effective at leveraging creative interests to motivate at-risk teens to finish high school.

Old Library Studio's innovative program design makes it a favorite among music industry professionals and Do-it-yourself recording hobbyists. The recording equipment used by students has been assembled, almost entirely, of donated gear from local recording studios and top music equipment manufacturers.

Old Library Studio serves as a model of new approach to music education, and provides guidance to emerging music nonprofits throughout the United States.
