The Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs is concerned with: * Promoting educational opportunities and high quality education in environmental health; * Promoting strategies to increase the environmental health workforce; * Promoting strategies to increase diversity within the environmental health workforce; Promoting the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council and its accreditation standards for environmental health education; * Promoting education through internships; * Promoting international educational opportunities; * Promoting information about education and research about Environmental health; * Promoting partnerships among programs and environmental and public health agencies, the private sector and professional associations; * Promoting a cohesive voice for environmental health programs on education, the workforce and environmental issues; * Promoting the professional growth and development of faculty; and * Promoting applied research and service by pursuing funding and other resources to support special projects.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

AEHAP programs: Increase and diversify the environmental health workforce; Elevate the image and importance of this field to the public and policymakers; and Promote community based environmental health assessments through student projects and curricula development. Marketing: AEHAP has conducted messaging research on how best to communicate the importance of environmental health. The research was then tested with policymaker, public, and environmental health professional focus grouAEHAP has conducted environmental health briefings and panels to disseminate information about environmental health among our leaders. A diverse and qualified environmental health workforce: AEHAP provides universities opportunities to create innovative recruitment strategies through a mini- grant program. Minority Serving Institutions are awarded several grants to fund for student internships and promote community based environmental health assessments in their communities. AEHAP has focused many of its efforts on increasing the number of programs in geographically and ethnically underserved communities.
