Mission

The National Lymphedema Network’s mission is to empower our community of lymphedema practitioners and patients by providing educational opportunities, networking opportunities, and interventional resources. We aim to inspire clinicians to provide world-class care for people with lymphedema by promoting best practice guidelines and standards of care.

What we aim to solve

Awareness and understanding of lymphedema varies among healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers. This, along with other barriers, can limit access to quality treatment for those living with, or at risk of, lymphedema. While there is increasing research surrounding the lymphatic system and related disorders, there is still much to learn. The National Lymphedema Network envisions a future where everyone understands lymphedema and best practice treatment approaches, when science will highlight the extent of the lymphatic system’s role in the preservation of health, and when the incidence of lymphedema becomes minimal.

NLN Garment Fund

The National Lymphedema Network proudly offers complimentary, medically necessary compression garments to people with lymphedema who experience financial hardship.

The NLN CLT Scholarship Program supports the clinical growth and professional development of clinicians in the field of lymphology and makes lymphedema treatment more readily available in the community.

The Patient Resource Program empowers those affected by lymphedema through education, advocacy, and facilitating involvement in lymphology advancement and research. This program provides patient support and education to increase understanding of lymphedema and treatment options, and to improve access to quality healthcare via symposiums, online resources and community education.

• Promoting the advancement of lymphology
• Advancing the training and certification of lymphedema therapists;
• Advocating for adequate insurance coverage of medically necessary, safe, and effective treatment;

• Expanding the availability of lymphedema treatment facilities and certified lymphedema therapists; and
• Supporting and disseminating research regarding the causes, risk reduction, and treatment of lymphedema.
