Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The PJCC's overarching goals are to promote wellness, prevent isolation, build knowledge and community bonds, and help one another to improve the world.

To ensure the PJCC positively impacts the communities it serves, it offers a range of services: healthy eating classes; social programs for seniors; a community gardening program; a strong cultural arts program, and much more. The PJCC embraces the diversity of culture, opinion, religion, and identity in our wider community, serving as a center for wellness, the community, families, and for Jewish life and culture. The PJCC's programs include:
1. Adult and senior programs: Get Up & Go escorted transportation service/socialization program; senior excursions/day trips; educational/recreational/cultural offerings.
2. Wellness Your Way® initiative: Kaiser Permanente partnership; Discover CATCH children's healthy living program; a Living Healthy program by Sequoia Healthcare District; Pink Ribbon breast cancer rehabilitation program.
3. 50,000 square-foot Byer Athletic Center: state-of-the-art health & fitness facility; full-court gymnasium; award-winning aquatics center; physical therapy; massage; child care; sports & recreational activities/leagues.
4. Center for Jewish Life and Culture: programs open to the community include classes, workshops, and holiday celebrations, and Jewish Wellness, introducing wellness based in Jewish traditions.
5. Grow Justice: Fight Hunger: multi-year garden/nutrition education initiative that provides fruits and vegetables to a local homeless shelter, as well as volunteer opportunities for our community.
6. Visual, cultural, performing, and fine arts: Art Gallery visited by thousands each year; Justice Mural as part of the Justice Garden.
8. Camp Keff: seasonal camps that serve nearly 1000 participants ages 2 to 17 years with a focus on fun, friendship, education, sports, and specialty areas.
9. Treehouse @ the J Afterschool program: serves working families from a range of socio-economic backgrounds with afterschool care (~120 children TK-grade 5 annually).
10. The PJCC Preschool: serves more than 250 children ages 2 to 5 years; fosters an environment of hands-on discovery, encouraging children to make decisions based on values including respect, responsibility, kindness, and community.
11. Youth Enrichment program: provides more than 500 children ages 3-10 with afterschool courses and workshops.
12. Developmental Consultant: part-time in-house Occupational Therapist serving preschool and Treehouse, and offering support for camp to ensure inclusivity in these programs.

The PJCC has expert staff in our goal areas. We have a board of directors that guides our Strategic Vision and are supported by many volunteers. In addition, we have a network of community partners and a track record of almost 70 years supporting our community.

Last year, the PJCC served 940 Campers, 263 Preschoolers
253 Housebound seniors, 36 Post-operative breast cancer
survivors, 5,000+ Jewish Life participants, 350+ Families who received financial assistance or tuition subsidies for membership, preschool, & camp, and 55 children with special needs who were served by our on-site developmental consultant. In addition, approximately 10,000 and 45,000 visitors from throughout San Mateo county were served by the organization or utilized our serves. Based on program evaluation and the evolving needs of our community, the PJCC will continue to offer life-changing and sustaining programs to benefit the entire community from infants to seniors.
