Mission

We take our freedom for granted. Yet slavery exists worldwide today in the form of human trafficking.
SAGE seeks to effect change on two levels: (1) in the lives of vulnerable and exploited individuals and (2) in the local, national and international community , by providing opportunities for healing and justice while challenging societal attitudes that foster ignorance and acceptance of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
With partners from all over the US and around the world, SAGE works to end human trafficking, one step at a time, through education and advocacy. At home SAGE gives hope to children and adults who have been exploited by human traffickers. Comprehensive services — case management, mental health counseling, support groups, life skills training, vocational guidance, job preparation and mentoring help them escape, recover from their trauma and, ultimately, acquire the skills and strength they need to heal and start new lives.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Survivor Services for Girls and Young Women

SAGE's Survivor Services for Girls and Young Women is a continuum of services for girls and young women who are Commercially Sexually Exploited (CSE), victims of violence or sexual abuse, or involved in the juvenile justice system.

Population(s) Served

Opened in June 1998, the SAGE Trauma and Addiction Recovery (STAR) Center is an intensive, 26-week outpatient program serving adult substance-using women and trasngendered individuals who have experienced violence, abuse and exploitation.

Population(s) Served

The Mental Health Program at SAGE is staffed by therapists who are experienced in working with survivors of trauma, addiction and sexual exploitation. At least 85% of SAGE's clients are dually diagnosed with substance abuse and mental health conditions. The SAGE Mental Health Program is part of the organization's broader goal of creating a global network of support, healing and advocacy for individuals exploited through systems of prostitution.

Population(s) Served

SAGE's Anti-Trafficking Program is dedicated to providing direct services for victims and survivors of international and domestic human trafficking as well as combating human trafficking through advocacy and public education. Our mission is to help trafficking victims reclaim and reconstruct their lives and to advocate for system reform and resources for people coerced, forced, and beaten into prostitution or forced labor.
