Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The Kenwood HUG-PTO strives to create a fun, memorable experience for the children, parents, teachers and staff at Kenwood Elementary School that complements student academics and supports the mission of the School.

In order to support Kenwood Elementary School's mission, the Kenwood HUG-PTO works to achieve a balance of fundraising events to provide enrichment opportunities and fun, family events and extracurricular student activities.

The Executive Board of the Kenwood HUG-PTO consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Kenwood Elementary's Principal is also considered a voting member of the Executive Board. The Executive Board members develop the HUG-PTO's annual budget and establish and oversee our "Working Groups" and/or volunteers to conduct the activities of the HUG-PTO as well as establish its fundraising programs.

Our Working Groups and Extracurricular Student Groups consist of one or more individuals, who work together with the HUG-PTO Board members to organize, manage and complete one of the endeavors planned for each year. With each endeavor, we strive to make each school year fun and successful for all students, staff and families.

We were pleased to expand our Fall Festival to be a well-attended community event in 2015 with an even larger attendance in 2016. Once, merely a family entertainment event, the Fall Festival has become a minor fundraiser for the Kenwood HUG-PTO.

In addition, we were thrilled to host our third Annual Fun Run in October 2016. This newer tradition for a fundraiser for the Kenwood HUG-PTO proved successful with not just nearly doubling our revenue from the event, but having every student participate.

While we have a handful of wonderful stories of success, we have a few items we continue to move toward achieving. First, our very outdated exterior signage is in need of replacement. Second, our stage is need of some attention with the wood needing to be refinished and new curtains hung. Last, we continue to assist in complementing our STEAM curricula through the support of our robotics and gardening extracurriculuar programs, and purchase of new/updated art, music, and technology equipment.
