The mission of The Council of Affiliated Negro Organizations, Inc. (C.A.N.O) is to provide high-quality education for its children which nurtures and supports active learning in a safe environment and to inspire its community. It is the objective of CANO State Preschool to inspire young children to impact the community in order to improve the social, economic, political civic, and moral good of the citizens.

The Council of Affiliated Negro Organizations, Inc.

CANO (Council of Affiliated Negro Organizations, Inc.) State Preschool promotes children’s educational goals through high-quality free instruction to children of diverse backgrounds. It serves 3-to-5-year-old children primarily of Santa Ana, and throughout Orange County, California. All classes and meals are free, with low-income households as first priority. CANO’s objective is to inspire young children to impact the community in order to improve the social, economic, political civic, and moral good of the citizens.

Infants and toddlers

Our new objectives of this program are to:
• Renovate the school buildings and grounds to promote an aesthetically pleasant and safe atmosphere;
• Upgrade the playground to further enhance recreational learning experience for the children to produce the safest equipment possible and comply with ASTM standards:
o Play equipment: soccer nets, props and stationary objects
o Play tools: padding, pails, hoops, tires, wooden blocks and other mobile structures
o Improve fencing enclosure to promote interior emergency safety and discourage entry of unauthorized persons
o Adding shading equipment, such as awning, to protect against heat and sunlight during special outdoor events
o Install a quiet outdoor reading area for one or more children
• Accommodate seasonal events
o Winter festivities, including snow play
o Summer activities, such as water balloon play, outdoor camping and barbecue
Program Outcome:
Anticipated results of the project completion are to promote:
• A diversified playground atmosphere where enrolled children can experience expanded outdoor learning
• Enhance children’s’ independent literacy learning
• Encourage stability of immunity with outside activities for children, staff, and parents for special events
• Enhancement of protective measures for children, staff, parents, and authorized visitors
