Mission

To improve the lives of residents of the Coachella Valley by mobilizing the caring power of the community to address health and human care needs. Based on this mission United Way of the Desert has developed the Community Impact Agenda which focuses on the most essential needs of the Coachella Valley. That agenda is Education: preparing youth to succeed; Health Care: Providing Healthy Solutions; Income Stability: empowering people to Self-Sufficiency, Restoring Stability inTimes of Trouble, and Strengthening Families.

Education

United Way of the Desert is working to promote academic success by Preparing Children to Succeed by supporting the following programs:
Case Management and Advocacy for Court-appointed Youth; Early Education Programs through Child Care sites through out desert communities; Core Programs for youth development and education. Preparing pre-school children for Kindergarten.

United Way of the Desert is working to increase awareness about health issues and to Improve Health and Wellness of all Citizens. Our programs consist of Developmentally Disabled Adult Day Center/workshops; transportation for Disabled Seniors; Cancer treatment payment assistance; In-home health care & hospice for the uninsured.

United Way of the Desert is working to bring financial stability by assisting with basic needs to Help families become financially stable by supporting the following programs: Mental health counseling for individual, family and groups; support food distribution services; case management for isolated seniors; hot meals for the hungry; we support a domestic violence shelter, transitional housing and community counseling center; program for emergency rental, utility and food assistance. We also have two emergency Water Assistance programs; discount prescription cards..
