What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Independent and Supported Living Services
Independent Living Skills Program (ILS): ILS serves 100 individuals each year. Staff work with TASC participants on a one-to-one basis so that they can live on their own in the community, teaching skills such as self-care, exercise, cooking, cleaning budgeting, decision making, etc. (Staff to participant ratio 1:1)
Supported Living Services (SLS): SLS serves 40 individuals each year. These individuals have a higher level of needs. They may be medically fragile or have behavioral issues and cannot live on their own in the community without significant support. (Staff to participant ratio 1:1)
Day Services
TASC’s Day Services currently provide 135 individuals with entirely community-based activities. This means that all social activities, volunteering, job-readiness, educational and vocational training is conducted in public spaces, ensuring that participants experience inclusion in society. Clients in this program learn time management, problem-solving, customer service, and dependability. Partners include Cal State Northridge, Valley College and Pierce College, as well as local businesses such as a thrift store, laundry mat, nursing home, pet adoption center, and more. Clients also benefit from social interactions and recreational activities.
Specialized Therapudic Services
Specialized Therapeutic Services (STS): STS launched in November 2016. This is a cutting-edge one-of-a-kind program providing individual and group therapy, behavioral training and community-based volunteer opportunities for individuals with significant behavioral challenges. The majority of these individuals have been released from Porterville Developmental Center.
Employment Services
Employment Services: Many of TASC's clients are capable of working but unable to find job placement. Therefore, in March 2017, TASC opened "The Sunny Spot”, a concession stand inside the TASC office building. Clients are paid minimum wage to manage the store which supplies snacks and beverages to customers from over 40 businesses. This has inspired other self-sustaining micro-enterprises like an online retail store called Better World Clothing and janitorial services.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. TASC focuses on the “whole-person" individualizing support to help clients reach their goals develop their skills and achieve a higher quality of life, while also providing a wide variety of services
2. TASC is 100% community-based. Community integration is a shared goal of all service providers and being community-based will be a federal requirement for all service providers in the next few years. TASC currently advises other service providers on this transition.
3. TASC has excellent staff-retention and low-turnover. TASC invests in its staff and maintains a family-like organizational culture.
4. When other service providers are closing, TASC's infrastructure and leadership allows for expansion – adding programs to meet the demand, willing and able to test innovative ideas i.e. self-sustaining micro-enterprises to create jobs.
5. TASC collaborates, supports and partners with fellow service providers to ensure that people with disabilities get the care they deserve.
