Disaster Recovery Workbook Series

Goal: Produce a two volume interactive workbook series that will guide disaster survivors through the complexity of rebuilding and insurance settlement. The proposed project is to write and publish a two volume ""rebuild and insurance"" workbook series that assist disaster survivors in recovering from disasters with knowledge and dignity with easy to follow guidance. Having been intimately involved in the rebuild and insurance recovery of thousands of disaster victims from multiple disasters, Deena Raver, County of San Diego Rebuild Liaison, and George Kehrer, Executive Director of CARe, have found successful methods of teaching and guiding survivors through the complicated process of insurance settlement and rebuilding their homes. Both George and Deena have led hundreds of workshops on these processes and found that having a workbook, prepared in advance would greatly help the process. A workbook like this would also help those who do not benefit from having a loss during a declared disaster such as a smaller group or individual losses.
