Mission

The World Institute of Pain (WIP) is an organization of physicians who specialize in pain medicine and contribute to worldwide consensus and guidance to alleviate pain. WIP promotes education and training of physicians in pain reduction; develops protocols and outcome studies in pain management; and provides certification programs for qualified physicians in interventional pain practice and ultrasonography techniques used in interventional pain practice.

To evaluate candidates who voluntarily appear for examination and to certify as Fellows of Interventional Pain Practice those who are qualified.\r\n\r\nTo evaluate candidates who voluntarily appear for examination and to certify as Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist those who are qualified.\r\n\r\nTo appraise and inform about scientific and best evidence-based practices of pain medicine, through a scholarly journal. PAIN Practice, the official journal of the World Institute of Pain, publishes international multidisciplinary articles on pain and analgesia that provide its readership with up-to-date research, evaluation methods, and techniques for pain management.

Administer a peer-driven and psycho-metrically analyzed examination in core competencies of interventional pain practice.\r\n\r\nAdminister a peer-driven and psycho-metrically analyzed examination in core competencies of the use of ultrasonography techniques in interventional pain practice. \r\n\r\nPublish peer-reviewed articles in the society owned journal, Pain Practice.\r\n\r\nFoster continuous learning through the society-sponsored biennial World Congress, regional and international advanced pain conferences and practical workshops.\r\n\r\nPromote the exchange of knowledge between physicians through networking opportunities achieved through both educational and social programs, including recognition of pain centers of excellence.
