What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Circle X produces two to three mainstage productions per year. We strive for at least one World Premiere every season, and only produce when we are passionate about the material and believe it supports our mission. We are known for our minimalist, highly theatrical aesthetic and the intelligence of our work. In addition, we produce an annual Free Reading Series. This public series features four to six new works and often utilizes directors and actors from other Los Angeles arts organization in addition to many of our ensemble members. We try to include the playwright if possible and hold talkbacks after every reading.
Our goal is to produce a regular three-show season in addition to free readings, workshops, outreach activities and creative opportunities for our ensemble. Circle X needs a permanent home and paid staff to accomplish these goals. Thanks to a generous matching grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, we have hired a full-time development director. This is the first step in our strategic plan. We hope to hire two more full-time staff positions, begin a capital campaign, expand our annual season to three shows and increase our budget from 111,000 to 150,000 by 2011. We have the organizational capacity to accomplish these goals, from our dedicated staff to our proven track record of artistic excellence.
