What we aim to solve

A new type of STEM education is required – one based on excitement and engagement. Despite many STEM initiatives across the country, fewer teenagers are wanting to pursue careers in STEM according to Junior Achievement, the world’s largest organization dedicated to youth career readiness. According to Alan Stukalsky, Chief Digital Officer for Randstad North America, “the term STEM needs a rebrand and awareness campaign to get the next generation of talent excited about pursuing these careers”. A result of the above is, 2.4 million STEM jobs will go unfulfilled according to the Smithsonian Science Center. Employers must change their approach; transactional recruiting is way out of date! Andretti Fasttrack Experience (AFX)* was created to EXCITE and ENGAGE students in ways that relate to the real-world, using Motorsports (and other high-interest topics) as the backdrop. Unlike traditional Science, Technology, Engineering & Math programs (STEM), AFX incorporates the Arts “STE(A)M” engaging and stimulating nearly ALL students through creativity and design. AFX’ primary benefit is CONTENT! It’s ALL about encouraging students to WANT to learn STEAM. AFX’ STEAM experience is unique through the inclusion of the Arts, by applying creativity and design with science and engineering. As an example, students can learn STEAM concepts when presented the challenge to apply their creativity to optimizing the design of a race car…or evaluating Mary Lou Retton’s skating style, discovering exactly how she scored a perfect 10 to become an iconic Olympic Champion! AFX is also unique in utilizing subject matter experts (SME’s) that students can relate to and admire. Their in-depth knowledge brings lessons to life; from the textbook to actual real-life demonstration, in a very interactive, and compelling way. One of AFX’ most influential SME partners is By Kids For Kids (BKFK), a renowned education marketing and content provider with access to over 50 million K-12 students nationally, plus teachers, parents and many education organizations. To develop and distribute such content requires an Ecosystem; one that will empower every community, every school, every child, regardless of neighborhood, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, and ability, to have the same STEAM learning opportunity. The result: better opportunities and careers for our youth and a much more competitive nation. * AFX is an initiative developed by Jeff Andretti Motorsports (JAM) Marketing Partners, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to STEAM education. It creates and deploys educational and marketing initiatives designed to inspire K-12 students to pursue STEAM education and careers. JAM Marketing Partners has a number of advantages compared to other STEM/STEAM programs: the Andretti Brand,, the real-world examples used to showcase STEAM principles (highly unique and impactful), AFX online TV show, access to nearly all U.S. schools and Edu organizations, and their focus on grassroots community-building. JAM Marketing Partners has established partnerships with a number of corporations and NPO’s to support and fund their platform..

Andretti FASTTRACK Experience is an exciting, entertaining, interactive, totally innovative multi-platform program to engage K-12 students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). With motorsports (and other compelling topics) as the backdrop, students are challenged to solve real world problems by applying STEAM concepts and theories. AFX is designed to create an ecosystem, connecting STEAM education in the classroom with the skills, and challenges that come with career opportunities in the marketplace. AFX offers educators access to turn-key lessons and activities that align to grade specific standards for ease of implementation, to utilize in the classroom. AFX-TV streaming videos highlight specific scientific theories, mathematical equations, engineering and technological components and graphic art focused designs found in motorsports, aeronautics, and other exciting areas. The classroom activities and lessons illustrate the video concepts through connections to related disciplines and concepts. Hands-on live demonstrations accessible through field trips and/or onsite mobile units bring the lessons to life in unique and exhilarating ways. For example, an AFX virtual ride-along with Mario Andretti in a highly-sophisticated, fully enclosed simulator manufactured by Motion Sphere, provides a breathtaking, Indy race car experience, unlike any other STEM lesson en-countered by the student! AFX has two parts: 1. Classroom and home streaming TV episodes , ie. AFX-TV, hosted by Andretti Rising Star motor-sports drivers and other SME’s, celebrities and athletes 2. Local community events, ie. AFX-“Live”, that bring together business, civic and scholastic leaders and influentials to provide support and resources for students, educators and parents. In addition to the students, teachers, schools, and parents, other partners transcend classroom walls. AFX partners include: STEAM Communities, educators, universities, corporations, research & development centers, sports and entertainment celebrities, arts and science centers, think tanks, museums, and many more … AFX’ framework is congruent with the main goal identified in the “STEM 2026” report* which is to promote lifelong learning among all youth and in all communities. Specifically, AFX’ model is de-signed to spearhead innovation and accelerate adoption of these six components identified in the report: • Engaged and networked communities of practice. • Accessible learning activities that invite intentional play and risk. • Educational experiences that include interdisciplinary approaches to solving “grand challenges.” • Flexible and inclusive learning spaces. • Innovative and accessible measures of learning. • Societal and cultural images and environments that promote diversity and opportunity in STEM. *STEM 2026: A Vision for Innovation in STEM Education report, based on interactive workshops, incl 30 experts and thought leaders in STEM teaching and learning.

Partnerships: AFX is a consortium of several successful companies, built on professional relationships that transcend classroom walls. Current partners include: By Edunetwork Partners (see below), US Concrete, UTI, Vector, Ford, Palos Verdes Nuclear Power Plant, Luke Air Force Base, Motion Sphere, Indy Cars, Octane Media, Gerhard, NamePlace Marketing, OA Agency, Mavericks, Merritt Partners Garage… Even more importantly, AFX also partners with: STEAM Communities, educators, universities, corporations, research & development centers, sports and entertainment celebrities, arts and science centers, think Tanks, museums, and many more … Content: The major strength and competitive advantage of AFX is the breadth and depth of content, marketing and distribution afforded by the expertise of our partner and SME relationships, as shown above. Distribution: AFX has a strong partnership with By Edunetwork Partners, a renowned content provider with access to: • Over 50 million K-12 students in more than 100,000 public and private schools. • Over 50 million parents & family members. • 5 million educators and school personnel • 1 million home schooled students

AFX is defining metrics that will be used to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of our platform for students, teachers, parents, partners and sponsors/donors. Below are some examples: 1. Number of students showing interest in topics related to STEM Delete 2. Number of participants who would recommend program to others Delete 3. Number of groups brought together in a coalition/alliance/partnership Delete 4. Number of accolades/recognition received from third-party organizations Delete 5. Student rating of STEAM programs AFX is working with universities to gather and analyze the above and additional data which will be published in the near future.

TSN-AFX is still in the start-up phase, raising funds, finalizing content development, and targeting October 2019 for our official launch, in Maricopa County, Az. That being said, there have already been several notable accomplishments in the last two years: • Elevated STEAM awareness with our current partners (see list above) plus many other companies, various public, private and government organizations, influential individuals and other NPO’s we have engaged, since the inception of TSN-AFX. • Successfully executed two proof-of-concept events in 2018, @ Verrado High School in Maricopa County, Az. • Raised bridge funds from several partners/sponsors (ie. Vector, US Concrete, Ford…) • White paper published by University of San Francisco in 2018, validating and supporting our mission, approach and business model.
