What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

In schools throughout our country, children as young as 5 years old can be denied a hot lunch meal at school lunch due to having a delinquent lunch account balance. Some schools offer alternate meals to these children which can be as minimal as a cheese sandwich. Some children experience lunch shaming and have their food thrown out in front of them or are subjected to other forms of humiliation. All for Lunch, we believe no child should be denied lunch at school due to their inability to pay. We work tirelessly to pay off existing delinquent lunch accounts and then fund All for Lunch Reserve Accounts at schools to cover children as they run out of funds. About 1 in 6 children in our country are identified as being food insecure which means that they do not know where their next meal is coming from. For many of these kids, school lunch may be their only guaranteed meal of the day. We work to make sure every child has access to lunch at school, regardless of their situation at home.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

At All for Lunch, we aim to make sure every child has access to lunch, regardless of their financial situation at home. For children as young as 5 years old living in food insecurity, school lunch may be their only meal of the day. Because of this, we work to eliminate school lunch debt and fund All for Lunch Reserve Accounts. If a child ever finds they do not have money in their lunch account to pay for their meal, rather than have the meal taken away the All for Lunch Reserve Account will cover the cost. We also partner with food pantries to keep them stocked with lunch items so that children living in food insecurity continue to have access to these essential meal items.

We want children in school to be able to focus on learning and being a child rather than carrying the burden of financial situations that are completely out of control. All for Lunch and Lunch for All!

At All for Lunch, our mission is simple: ELIMINATE SCHOOL LUNCH DEBT AND FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD FOOD INSECURITY. We work with schools to pay off school lunch debt so kids can have access to school lunch regardless of their financial situation at home. We also fund All for Lunch Reserve Accounts to cover the cost of lunch if a child does not have the money to pay.

We partner with the community to help make sure kids throughout local schools have access to lunch at school. Through an individualized landing page, All for Lunch allows donors to help keep their schools lunch debt free. We identify school lunch debt, pay off delinquent lunch accounts, and fund All for Lunch Reserve Accounts to help cover the cost of a meal if a child does not have money to pay for their lunch. This makes sure every child has access to lunch at school without the worry, stress, stigma or shame of school lunch debt.

We work directly with the schools to understand exactly what their need is in regard to eliminating school lunch debt and how to best tackle the challenges they face on a monthly basis. We then work with local businesses and members of the community to raise awareness of the issues and secure donors to help support their local schools with the goal of eliminating the school lunch debt and ensuring no child is denied a school lunch due to their financial situation.

Since inception, we have funded almost 300,000 lunches at schools throughout 11 states. We continue to expand to impact more schools in more states in the country to continue to keep children lunch debt-free.
