Mission

Our main focus is making sure our Retired Veteran & Police K9’s are well taken care of in the interim between retirement and finding their forever home. There are many reasons why these heroes can no longer stay with their handlers, and that is where we step in. We provide them with a safe, comfortable environment. Our facility is heated and air conditioned, we provide them with all the medical care they need and plenty of love and daily exercise. Our adoption process is personalized to meet both the dog and the applicants needs. It’s always going to be What is Best for the Dog! Our funds are also available to help Police K9 Units in need of vital life saving equipment.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

There are very few organizations that house retired police K9's or Military and Contract Working dogs. Due to their aggressive nature they take a long time to rehabilitate and often have health issues due to their age and the duties they performed. We provide the medical care they need and give them the one on one attention they need to decompress and adjust to civilian life. We are unique in the fact that we house our K9's in a more homelike environment to better acclimate them to retirement. We also educate the public on the invaluable service these Working K9's provide to our safety and security each and every day and to provide a safe comfortable loving home for these heroes to retire in once their job is done and they are nearing the end of their life.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Provide both housing and medical care for retired working dogs in the interim between retirement and adoption. We "untrain" and socialize these working heroes until they can safely be adopted to live out their remaining years in a loving home. We also are willing to help assist K9 Units with life saving equipment or whatever they may need when funds are available.

We also speak at community organizations and schools to bring awareness to the vital role these K9's provide in our every day safety.

We provide a sanctuary for K9's that cannot be adopted.

We are a 100% volunteer organization. Fundraising is the only way we are able to provide for these K9's in need. We hope that by raising awareness and providing a valuable service that we will be able to see that our goals are met.

We have a unique facility which allows us to provide a safe, clean, heated and air conditioned environment with both indoor and outdoor runs. Indoor quiet rooms for dogs with medical issues and / or those that are easily stressed. Rooms to transition the K9's from a kennel environment to a home environment along with an indoor gym / rec room. We provide a loving one on one approach with all of our K9's to ensure that they feel safe and loved and learn to trust. We will never take in more dogs than we can comfortable take care of. We are small and provide a personal touch so that each K9 gets the care and attention they deserve.

We recently moved to a larger facility which allows us to house all of K9's indoors in a more homelike environment. We built new kennels and a large outdoor play yard as well as an indoor exercise room. While we may not have a large turnover of dogs the ones that we do adopt have a 100% success rate. With Patriot K9 Rescue it is always What's Best for the Dog! We will always opt for quality of care over quantity of dogs.

While we are getting our new facility set up which is a big expense we hope to be able to do more fundraisers to allow us the ability to help other non profits as well. Those that share our same mission and ethical standards. We believe that non profits should work together to help one another, after all, isn't that what charity is supposed to be about? Ideally we would like to be able to help fund start up K9 Units or pay for life saving equipment or medical expenses for those injured on duty. We will evolve and grow and see what the future may bring.
