Mission

Alex’s Sunnyside Playroom provides a family-friendly room in adult cancer hospitals. This service and space includes art supplies, toys, books, play structures, child-sized furniture, games, murals from commissioned artists, and family movies. The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be: a. to provide art supplies to create momentos as a family fighting cancer; b. to provide a space for children to engage with their parents or grandparents in the promotion and participation of the fight for cancer as a family within the adult hospital/clinic; c. to provide opportunities for participants to engage in recreational play, games, crafts, reading together; d. to sponsor, host and/or provide activities that promote the family staying together to fight cancer;

Inaugural Playroom

Alex’s Sunnyside Playroom provides a family-friendly room in adult cancer hospitals. This service and space includes art supplies, toys, books, play structures, child-sized furniture, games, murals from commissioned artists, and family movies. We finished construction in the inaugural playroom in June 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The room is open for end-of-life situations during the pandemic. Our second family playroom is committed to OSUCC-The James for construction in 2022.
