What we aim to solve
Migraine is a prevalent, disabling neurological disease that is greatly misunderstood and highly stigmatized. Yet Migraine is the 3rd most prevalent disease worldwide and the the 7th leading cause of disability worldwide. Closer to home, Migraine costs the US economy over $20 billion each year in lost productivity and health care expenses. It is responsible for 113 million lost work days each year, resulting in $13 billion in lost productivity. Despite it's significant impact on individuals and society at large, the availability of accurate, reliable information for patients, caregivers, and the general public is woefully lacking.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to offer a truly comprehensive resource for medically accurate information about Migraine and other headache disorders without the barriers of cost or access to health care services.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Accessible information - We publish information online that is accessible through multiple platforms and devices and market that content via multiple social media outlets.
2. Strategic partnerships - We collaborate with other organizations who share our goals and values, magnifying our reach through collective promotion, co-marketing, and joint projects.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our team has over 30 years experience in patient education and health care advocacy. We have also assembled a team of headache specialists to review all our content for medical accuracy. We produce all content in-house, with complete editorial control. We never curate, purchase, or outsource content. We have also made a public committment to our readers that our team will receive continuing medical education through attendance at medical conferences, access to medical journals, and personal study.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We launched our website, MigraineDisease.org in May 2018. In our first year, we developed strategic partnerships with the Coalition for Headache and Migraine Patients and the Cluster Headache Support Group to expand our reach.
In 2019, we recevied 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS and launched our first fundraising campaigns. We also developed strategic partnerships with the American Migraine Foundation and Antidote.me.
Next, we'll be developing a capital campaign to fund our 3rd and 4th quarter goal of creating an online patient education training program. We'll be collaborating with doctors to provide the kind of patient education needed, but not normally available during a brief office visit.

- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
