PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE - CRN-I IS AN AFFILIATE ENTITY OF THE COUNCIL FOR RESPONSIBLE NUTRITION AND ACTS AS THE INTERNATIONAL ARM OF CRN TO FURTHER THE GENERAL PURPOSES OF CRN, WHICH INCLUDE PROVIDING SCIENCE-BASED INFORMATION TO REGULATORS, HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS, AND THE MEDIA, PARTICULARLY TO THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. SUPPORTING THE SAFETY AND BENEFITS OF DIETARY INGREDIENT AND FOOD SUPPLEMENTS, AND TO PROMOTE SOUND NUTRITION AND FOOD SAFETY POLICIES WELL GROUNDED IN SCIENCE BY GOVERNMENT BODIES AND OTHER DECISION MAKERS.

THESE EVENTS ARE HELD IN TANDEM WITH A CODEX ALIMENTARIUS COMMISSION MEETING. THIS ANNUAL ACTIVITY ACCOUNTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 70% OF CRN-I'S TIME AND IS PERFORMED BY CRN STAFF.

CRN-I HAS ALSO DEVELOPED TRANSLATED ABSTRACTS OF KEY JOURNAL ARTICLES RELEVANT TO INTERNATIONAL REGULATORY SCIENCE FOR NUTRIENTS AND FOOD (DIETARY) SUPPLEMENTS. AVAILABLE ON THE CRN-I WEBSITE IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH, CHINESE AND ARABIC TRANSLATIONS, THESE ABSTRACTS CAN POINT REGULATORS TOWARD SOUND SCIENTIFIC STUDIES, REGARDLESS OF WHICH LANGUAGE THEY SPEAK. AUTHORS INCLUDE CRN STAFF, SPEAKERS AT CRN-I SYMPOSIA, AND ADDITIONAL U.S. AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS IN NUTRITION SCIENCE. THIS ACTIVITY ACCOUNTS FOR 10% OF CRN-I'S TIME AND IS PERFORMED BY CRN STAFF IN WASHINGTON, DC.
