Community Support Systems' mission is to provide programs and access to resources that raise the quality of life, dignity, and independence for families in-need in southern Prince George's & northern Charles Counties, Maryland. . Community Support Systems is a primary resource in the community for our neighbors in-need. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our 87 volunteers, we are able to deliver an array of cost-effective programs that have real impact.
Community Support Systems is a member of the Human Services Coalition and the Homeless Services Parnership of Prince George's County. We are United Way of the National Capital Area and the United Way of Charles County #8411.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
Community Support Systems operates Food Pantries in Baden and Accokeek, Maryland that are open a total of three mornings weekly. They offer meat, fresh vegetables, fruits, and canned and dry foods. More than 24,000 bags and boxes are distributed yearly. A Homebound Delivery Project serves clients who are ill and unable to attend. The Advocacy Program helps people access resources, including programs such as Food Stamps and Energy Assistance; assists clients with complicated paperwork, advocates on their behalf with landlords; helps with job search and resume preparation; provides transportation to the Department of Socials Services, doctor's appointments, etc.; provides mentoring and woks with clients to prevent homelessness. The Assistance Fund helps pay for utility bills, rent, mortgages, etc. The Shared Senior Living Home offers safe, comfortable, affordable housing for up to 5 low-income independent seniors. Rent is subsidized and runs from $200 to $400 per month. Working with the Prince George's Department of Social Services, Community Support Systems hosts a once monthly Mission Nutrition site at Gwynn Park High School to distribute fresh fruit and vegetables. Additional agency projects include holiday baskets, an Adopt-An-Angel Children's Gift Project, and a School Supplies Project.
