Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Classrooms and Schools Grants
We fund educator-driven projects and initiatives bringing curriculum to life and inspiring our students to inquire, adapt, persevere and innovate. By partnering closely with the community and Dare County Schools, DEF funds initiatives that fall outside school budgets up to $2500.
Grants to Educators
DEF is proud to offer supplemental support for DCS educator endeavors in College Credit course work, Praxis Certification Exams, National Boards Initial or Renewal Applications, as well as Professional Development opportunities.
College Scholarships
We provide financial support to high-achieving students with high financial need, so that they can take the next step in their educational journey. With a single application, apply for up to three scholarships.
Affordable Teacher Housing
Our affordable teacher housing complexes, Run Hill Ridge and Hatteras Teacher Housing, are proven recruitment and retention tools, enabling Dare County Schools (DCS) to hire and keep highly qualified teachers in our classrooms.
