What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Bartlett Jackson Ambulance Service currently has over 40 volunteer staff members from EMT to paramedic license levels. BJAS also has 2 ambulances, one Type II and one Type III ambulance, both licensed to the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level with the State of New Hampshire. Beyond this, BJAS has two litters, one titanium and one plastic, to facilitate both summer and winter wildness rescues that are capable of air medical evacuations if necessary. BJAS hosts monthly meetings where its staff and personnel stay up to date with the latest protocols for the state of New Hampshire as well as learning new tools, techniques, and procedures to enhance our patient care delivery.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
So far, BJAS has provided volunteer emergency medical coverage for both the towns of Bartlett and Jackson New Hampshire since 1982 that is both high quality and affordable. We work with our colleagues from the Bartlett and Jackson fire departments and police to provide round the clock care and support to the guests and citizens of these two towns. Our organization averages 550+ calls annually but have noticed an increased rise in emergency room visits during the 2019 year. As it stands as of March 1, 2019, BJAS has experienced a 43% increase in our call volume compared to the trends from the previous year. Beyond this, BJAS provides non-emergent assistance to our town members through our community outreach program that helps to lower our call volume to save tax payers money. BJAS also provides a medical equipment loan service to qualified and low income town residents to help offset some of their medical costs by providing high quality loaner medical equipment for free.
